Check address sharing before using a quote comparison form
Before you submit a quote comparison form, find out whether it sends your details to several companies and whether each may contact you. One submission may lead to follow-up from more than one company, so you need to know who receives your details and how each handles postal marketing.
Questions to answer first
- Read the form and its policy for a list of partners or a description of who may receive your details.
- Note whether partners are named or only described as a category, and whether the policy says the list can change.
- Check whether the site offers one marketing setting for all partners or says each partner handles marketing separately.
- Check whether a postal address is required for a quote, and leave it out if the form allows that.
- If the page does not say, ask the comparison company which partners receive your details and how to limit paper mail.
Do not assume one setting covers everyone
A preference you set with the comparison site may not carry over to the companies that receive your details, and one partner's preference may not apply to another. Read the terms for the specific form you are using. If you go ahead, give only the details the form requires.

Record what you sent and to whom
Save the partner list or description the form showed on the day you submitted. If a letter arrives from one of those companies, contact that company through its own published contact details, ask it to stop postal marketing, and mention the comparison site and the date you submitted.
