How to Stop VFW Fundraising Mail
VFW Donor Services handles removal from its solicitation mailing list. You can also ask about the gifts included with appeals. Identify the exact sender before changing membership, magazine delivery or local-post contact.
Use the national Donor Services route
The VFW FAQ says to contact Donor Services at vfwfundraising@vfw.org or 1-833-839-4483 to remove your name from solicitation mail. The number is also written as 1-833-VFW-GIVE.
Start with the name, address and identifier on the appeal. Mention whether it says VFW or VFW Foundation. If the label belongs to someone else, explain the situation accurately rather than pretending to be that person. For several variants of your own name, list each version in the same message.
I would like no further postal fundraising solicitations for [printed name and full address]. The appeal names [VFW or VFW Foundation] and shows [mailing identifier, if any].
Please confirm the solicitation preference for this record. I am not requesting cancellation of membership, donations or any services. Please tell me whether a separate magazine or local-post record needs its own request.
Ask about token gifts if that is the problem
The VFW Foundation FAQ lists the same donor phone for mailing-list removal and for customizing token gifts. It describes the Foundation as a distinct charitable entity closely aligned with the VFW membership organization.
A request for no calendars or other enclosed items is narrower than a request for no appeals. Decide whether you want the gifts stopped, fewer letters or no solicitation mail at all. Say which option you mean, and ask the representative to repeat the preference recorded. Do not infer a particular schedule from the general invitation to customize mail.
Keep membership and local-post business separate
A fundraising envelope is not the same thing as a membership renewal, a magazine or a notice from a local post. Read the return address and the purpose of the letter before discarding it or asking for all VFW contact to stop.
If you want to keep those other communications, name them in your request. Donor Services can clarify whether the national solicitation preference covers the item in front of you. For a local-post notice, use the contact published by that post rather than assuming a national donor-list update changes every local record.
Confirm the outcome, then compare later labels
Neither cited FAQ supplies a fixed postal-removal deadline. Ask how long prepared appeals may continue, and keep the answer with the date of your request. A generic acknowledgment is not confirmation that every record you listed changed.
If another solicitation arrives after the stated window, send the new label through the published donor route and refer to your earlier response. Ask about duplicate records and, if you want it, the separate preference for sharing your name with other organizations. Avoid attaching benefit claims, financial statements or unrelated charities' mail.
A different sender, a different request
A national VFW request does not cover every veterans charity. Photograph another unwanted piece with its full label visible. We identify that sender and prepare a request; your first request is free.
