How to Stop DAV Mail, Labels and Calendars

Disabled American Veterans has a communication-preferences form with a specific postal-mail opt-out. Separate controls cover list rentals, annual appeals and items such as address labels or calendars. Choose the change you actually want.

Select postal mail on the actual DAV form

Open Your DAV Communication Preferences. Under Communication Method Preferences, choose the option for no communications by postal mail. The list-rental and exchange exclusion is a different checkbox. Email, telephone and no contact by any means also have their own choices.

The form requires first and last name, email, street address, city, state or province, ZIP and country. Its second address line is available for an apartment or unit; the phone field is not marked required. Use the mailing record you want changed. Read the selections again before submitting, particularly if you want to keep some contact channels.

No labels is not the same as no mail

Promotional Item Preferences offers one fundraising solicitation per year and an option not to receive premiums, including labels and calendars. These controls address frequency and contents, not just delivery channel.

If you enjoy the occasional letter but not the enclosed items, use that narrower preference. If your aim is no paper appeals, do not stop at the no-premiums choice. Take a note of the selections you made so a later reply can be checked against them rather than against a vague request for less junk.

Use Donor Relations when the form is not suitable

DAV's privacy policy publishes 1-859-442-1340, Donorrelations@dav.org and P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301 for communication preferences. Legal privacy-rights requests have a separate contact; ordinary paper-mail preferences need not begin with a deletion request.

Please record no postal fundraising mail for [name and full mailing address]. Please also exclude this record from future list rentals and exchanges. The reply card identifier is [identifier, if available].

I want to retain [specific communications, if any]. Please confirm the preferences and explain any duplicate record that needs separate attention. This request does not change a donation or my VA representation.

Protect service records and check later contact

The policy says fundraising opt-outs do not affect access to DAV services. It separately explains that an opt-out does not apply to its proprietary VA case-management data. Do not send medical or claims documents with a label-removal request.

DAV also says later reengagement requires a new opt-out. If you subsequently contact the organization and appeals return, check the current preference rather than relying only on an old confirmation. Ask Donor Relations about the applicable postal window; the policy does not give a single delivery cutoff in weeks.

What else is arriving?

DAV preferences apply to DAV records, not every veterans charity. For another unwanted sender, photograph the piece and its label. We prepare a sender-specific request. Your first request is free.
