How to Stop American Cancer Society Mail

Open the American Cancer Society Contact Preferences & Opt Out form and select Mail. The short email-unsubscribe form does not remove a postal address. You can also make a preference request at 1-800-227-2345.

Use the full form for paper mail

The ACS Contact Preferences & Opt Out form covers mailing addresses, phone numbers and email. Under Contact Preferences, select Mail for postal removal. The same page publishes 1-800-227-2345 for requests by phone.

The page also links a shorter email-only form. That option is for an inbox, not the address on a fundraising envelope. Check the page heading and selected channel before submitting your request yourself through the official site.

Choose other restrictions deliberately

The full form has separate choices for fundraising requests, all contact and exchanging a mailing address with other nonprofits. Its exchange checkbox says it applies to donors who gave through the mail. Do not assume that one checked box covers every preference.

The ACS privacy statement also describes a separate Data Request Form for data-sharing rights. If the exchange checkbox's stated scope does not fit you, use the policy's current instructions or ask its privacy contact, acs.dpo@cancer.org, which route applies.

Start with the smallest change that matches your goal. Someone who wants no paper appeals may still want email or requested service information. Read the labels rather than selecting all-contact removal automatically. Privacy preferences are not instructions to cancel a recurring donation.

Match the label without sharing medical details

The full form asks for contact information, including a postal address. Use the recipient details on the appeal so ACS can match the record. If multiple names or former addresses appear, ask the official team how to cover those variants rather than inventing details in required fields.

A fundraising preference request does not need a diagnosis, treatment history, medical bill or bank statement. Keep those documents out of any mail photo or explanation. If you are actually seeking help with a requested service, use the appropriate ACS support route instead of treating that correspondence as an unwanted appeal.

Keep the result and follow up on the same record

The form warns that already scheduled mailings may arrive before the change takes effect. It does not give a universal number of weeks there. Save its confirmation and ask support for the timeframe relevant to your request if you need one.

For a later envelope, compare the label with the address you submitted. A different recipient or spelling is useful information for support. ACS is not every organization with “cancer” in its name; another sender needs its own official request. Our charity-mail guide explains how to handle that wider stream.

Need help with another unwanted appeal?

ACS has a direct preference form above. For another sender, photograph the appeal and mailing label, not medical documents or donation payment details. Your first request is free.
