Match marketing mail addressed to initials

A sender may store a name as initials only. Quoting a guessed full name may not match the record, so copy the initials as printed.

How to handle a label with initials

  1. Copy the initials exactly as printed, including periods and spacing. If the label reads J. T. Smith, quote it that way.
  2. Confirm the initials are yours. If someone else at the address shares them, ask that person before you submit anything.
  3. Photograph the whole label so the initials, the full address block, and the sender's name or logo are in the frame.
  4. Submit the photo through Junk Mail Magic with a note quoting the initials as printed and confirming the address is yours.

Initials and shared addresses

Initials can fit more than one person in a household, and a request for initials that match a roommate or family member could stop mail meant for them. Confirm the initials are yours before submitting. Then quote them exactly as printed, so the sender can find the record.

Ask which name is on file

In your request, ask the sender to say which full name, if any, is attached to those initials in its records. That tells you the right record is being removed and no one else at your address is affected.
