Use DMAchoice for magazine offers you never requested
Magazine offers are within DMAchoice’s prospect-mail coverage. That means pitches from participating companies where you are a prospective subscriber. For promotional mail from a publisher you already subscribe to, contact that publisher directly and specify that the paid subscription should continue.
Stop the pitches and keep the paid title
- Write down the paid magazine you want to keep and the name it is addressed to.
- Gather the subscription offers you never asked for. Note each publisher's name and any prospect code printed near the address.
- Review DMAchoice’s current registration instructions for prospect advertising. Its coverage includes magazine offers, but it does not reach every publisher or replace a request about an existing subscription.
- For a particular publisher you want to stop, use its published contact or mail-preference route. Name the offer you received.
- If the publisher of your paid magazine also sends promotional offers, ask its customer service to stop promotional mail only and to keep your subscription active.
Wording that protects the subscription
Use the publication title to distinguish the subscription from new sales pitches. Ask the publisher whether promotional offers can be stopped separately and what happens to any renewal reminders you still want. If it combines preferences, read the available choices before deciding; do not assume it offers a separate switch for every kind of mail.
Sample request to a publisher
Example for your own use. Replace the bracketed details and review what you share.
Track by publisher
Keep new offers that arrive after your requests in one envelope labeled with each publisher's name. If a publisher keeps mailing, contact it again and ask how it handled your earlier request.

Choose the route that matches the mailing
Use the official route described in this guide for this kind of mail. For a separate ordinary advertisement, Junk Mail Magic can help prepare a sender-specific removal request.
