Catch a blurry photo before submitting
A photo can look fine as a thumbnail and still have blurred text or a cropped label. Zooming in before you upload takes a few seconds and can save you a retake.
How to review a photo before it goes in
- Open the photo and zoom in on the mailing label until you can read each line without guessing.
- Check the sender name and return address first, since those are what identify the sender.
- Look for shadows, glare, or a finger at the edge that covers part of the label.
- If anything is unclear, retake the photo in better light, holding the camera steady, as described at the photo guide.
What a good photo needs
The sender name and the full mailing label must be readable. A slightly dim photo that is sharp serves better than a bright one that is smeared. Indirect daylight and a flat surface solve many common problems, and a lamp should be moved or turned off if it causes glare. Never cover a hot lamp with paper or cloth.
Retake if in doubt
If you wonder whether a photo is clear enough, retake it before submitting. A readable photo gives the service its best chance of identifying the sender.
