How to Stop Smile Train Fundraising Mail

Smile Train's current policy directs direct-marketing preferences to its published contact, info@smiletrain.org. Ask specifically for no postal appeals and decide separately about donor-list sharing.

Identify paper mail in the direct-marketing request

Smile Train's current privacy policy directs marketing opt-outs to the contact in its How to Contact Us section, including info@smiletrain.org. Use that route to describe the postal record instead of assuming an unsubscribe link in an email identifies your home address.

Keep the envelope or reply piece until you have copied the printed name, full address and any useful reference. An initial instead of a first name or a different unit format may distinguish two records. Include each version that continues to receive appeals.

Please stop Smile Train postal fundraising appeals for [name as printed] at [full mailing address, including unit and ZIP code]. Keep my donations and necessary receipts unchanged.

Please also stop future donor-list sharing for third-party marketing where it applies to this record. Please confirm both preferences and the allowance for paper mail already prepared.

Non-UK donor sharing has its own opt-out

The policy separately describes other organizations sending mail to non-UK donors and directs sharing preferences to the same contact section. It says UK donor information is not currently shared for those third parties' own marketing. Do not assume every regional record uses the same sharing arrangement.

If you only want Smile Train's own appeals stopped, remove the second template paragraph. If you want both changes, ask the reply to cover both. A response about email alone leaves the paper preference unresolved.

Stopping future sharing does not establish that a different charity removed an existing record. Keep unfamiliar senders' labels and match their own published contacts rather than forwarding every appeal to Smile Train.

Keep donations and privacy-rights requests separate

The policy explains that service or transaction messages may remain after marketing opt-outs. State whether you want necessary donation receipts retained, rather than making an unrestricted request to remove every communication.

Data-access, correction, deletion and advertising choices are broader or different requests. Do not treat a privacy-rights form or its response deadline as evidence that paper appeals have stopped. You do not need to send payment credentials to explain a mailing preference.

Confirm the sender and follow up with a label

Smile Train is not Operation Smile. For mail from that separate organization, use the Operation Smile guide. Check the charity and regional office printed on the envelope before choosing a contact.

The current marketing-preference section does not give a fixed paper-mail processing deadline. Ask support what allowance applies and save its reply with your request date. If another appeal arrives beyond that allowance, provide its label and ask whether the original record or a duplicate is active. A copied template or a message received is not proof of a completed removal.
