How to Stop Operation Smile Paper Mail

Operation Smile publishes a Donor Relations contact for mailing preferences and address exchanges. Specify no paper appeals and keep that separate from changing a donation or an email subscription.

Use the contact in the mailing-preference paragraph

The Controlling Your Personal Information section of Operation Smile's policy gives donorrelations@operationsmile.org and 1-888-677-6453 for mailing changes. These are published contacts, not an inbox inferred from the organization's domain.

Give the printed recipient and complete postal address. If there is a donor or campaign reference on the reply piece, identify it as printed rather than treating every number as an account number. Ask support to match the paper record.

Please stop Operation Smile postal fundraising mail for [name as printed] at [full mailing address, including unit and ZIP code]. Keep my gifts and necessary receipts unchanged.

Please also stop future mailing-address exchanges for this record. Please confirm both preferences and the allowance for campaigns already in production.

Address exchanges need an explicit choice

The policy says Operation Smile sometimes exchanges mailing addresses with selected nonprofits but does not sell, rent or share email addresses or phone numbers. Its mailing-preference paragraph also covers opting out of address exchanges.

Keep the second template paragraph only if that sharing change is part of your request. Ask for a response covering it separately from own-mail removal. Do not describe a charity's opt-out as a recall of every record another organization already obtained.

If the problem is two envelopes from Operation Smile, provide both labels before concluding that list sharing caused it. Different spelling, a former address or a missing unit can be useful evidence of a duplicate record.

Do not import a privacy-rights deadline

The policy warns that campaigns already underway can continue to produce materials for up to 90 days after a removal request. This is not a guaranteed final-delivery date. Its separate privacy-rights response periods are not the paper-mail production allowance.

Ask Donor Relations what applies to your record and save that answer. If mail arrives beyond the allowance, send one recent label in the original conversation. Ask whether it was prepared earlier or whether another recipient record still needs attention.

Match the charity before sending

Operation Smile and Smile Train are separate organizations. If your envelope names the latter, use the Smile Train mail guide. An opt-out to one is not evidence that the other changed anything.

This U.S. policy describes website-related practices and publishes the mailing contact above; it is not a blanket statement about every country affiliate's offline records. Email unsubscribe, account access and gift cancellation remain different actions. Send only the details needed to identify the label, never a password or payment-card image. Copying this template does not submit a request or confirm removal.
