How to Stop American Red Cross Mail
Ask the American Red Cross to change your postal communication preferences. Choose the financial-donor or blood-donor contact that matches the mail, and keep that request separate from any recurring donation.
Choose the contact for the type of mail
The American Red Cross privacy policy publishes separate unsubscribe contacts:
- Financial-donor communications: donorsupport@redcross.org.
- Blood-donor communications: customercare@redcross.org.
Its mailings and calls FAQ also directs readers to Donor Care through the online inquiry link there or by calling 1-800-733-2767, option 2. These are published contacts, not guessed addresses.
Specify postal appeals and the recipient
Read the sender and recipient on the envelope first. A donation appeal and a blood-drive notice can come from different communication records. Give the appropriate contact the label details and say which channel you want changed.
Please stop postal fundraising appeals sent to [name and complete mailing address as printed]. The appeal I received is [brief description].
This is a communication-preference request. I am not asking to cancel a recurring donation. Please retain necessary donation receipts and confirm which mailing record you updated.
Adapt that wording if you want a different preference. Do not attach a medical record, blood-test result, bank statement or card information to explain a paper-mail request. If the label contains a donor reference, share it privately with the official support team.
Information sharing is a separate preference
The privacy policy describes sharing financial-donor information with trusted data cooperatives. It gives DonorCare@redcross.org, with “opt-out” in the subject, and a linked form for opting out of that sharing.
If you want both postal appeals and that sharing stopped, state both requests. Do not assume a confirmation for one covers the other. Use the policy's current instructions rather than applying another charity's list practices to the Red Cross.
Stopping appeals does not cancel a monthly gift
A postal preference is not a payment instruction. If you also want to change a recurring gift, handle that separately through your Red Cross account or Donor Care, as described in its FAQ. Junk Mail Magic's mail-removal request is not a donation-cancellation service.
Keep the two confirmations separate. A reply about catalog or appeal preferences does not prove that a recurring payment changed. Likewise, an account change should not be treated as proof that all promotional channels were suppressed.
Keep the response for follow-up
Save the request date, recipient details and response. If another appeal arrives, compare its label and send the appropriate team the earlier confirmation. Ask whether the new piece uses the same mailing record rather than assuming every envelope reflects a new request.
For unrelated charities, use our charity-mail guide. Each organization has its own contact routes; a Red Cross opt-out does not block all fundraising mail.
