Cancel a subscription through its actual provider

To stop a magazine, box service, or other subscription, cancel it with the provider. A removal request through Junk Mail Magic is about advertising mail and leaves your billing untouched.

How to cancel the subscription and stop the mail separately

  1. Sign in to your account with the provider and find the cancellation option, or call customer service to cancel. Ask for written confirmation.
  2. Ask whether canceling also takes you off the provider's promotional mailing list, or whether you must ask separately.
  3. If advertising keeps arriving after the subscription ends, photograph it and submit a removal request through Junk Mail Magic as its own step.
  4. Keep the cancellation confirmation until your statements show no further charges.

Why these are separate actions

Ask the publisher to confirm each change separately: cancellation of the paid subscription and your postal advertising preference. Save the response that covers billing or renewal, and check the marketing request on its own terms. An opt-out acknowledgment is not evidence that the paid subscription was canceled.

Confirm that billing has stopped

Check your next billing statement for any charge. If advertising mail continues after a few weeks, photograph it and submit a separate removal request. For catalog and magazine mail, see stop magazines in the mail guide.

Have an unwanted advertisement ready?

Photograph one piece you are authorized to handle, with the sender and full mailing label visible. Review the details before submitting. The first request is free; the sender controls the response.
