Verify a magazine renewal from another company

A renewal notice may come from a company whose name does not match the publisher. Confirm who receives your payment and whether your subscription will be credited.

How to verify a third-party magazine renewal

  1. Compare the company name and return address on the notice with the publisher named on your subscription label or in a recent issue's masthead.
  2. Log in to your account on the publisher's own website to see your actual renewal date.
  3. Call the publisher's subscriber services number from its website, not from the notice, and ask whether the sender is an authorized renewal agent.
  4. To stop renewal solicitations from the sender, photograph the notice for Junk Mail Magic, review the details, and submit a removal request. This does not cancel your subscription.

Authorized agents and unaffiliated companies

Some publishers authorize outside agents to process renewals. Other renewal-style mailers come from companies with no such authority that may take payment without crediting your subscription. The publisher's subscriber services can tell you which applies. Paying a name that differs from the publisher without that confirmation risks losing the payment or the renewal.

Renew directly with the publisher

Until you confirm that the sender is an authorized agent, renew through the publisher's official website or its subscriber services number.
