Review recruitment mail sent to two family homes

When recruitment mail arrives at two family homes, make a table with each address and the schools or programs that used it. Then send each request with the address that received the mail. The mail is addressed to the student, so the student should approve every request.

Build the address table

  1. Ask the student which address they gave for test registration, fairs, campus visits and school inquiries.
  2. Sort brochures from both homes by delivery address. Note each school and the student's name exactly as printed.
  3. If the student registered for the ACT with both addresses, submit ACT's Recruit Me opt-out form for each one.
  4. For College Board Student Search, follow the official FAQ instructions if the student chooses to opt out.
  5. Write to each school the student has ruled out, using the address that school mailed to.

Why both addresses matter

ACT asks people registered with more than one physical or email address to submit each one, so a form covering one home may not cover the other. College Board says organizations that already hold a student's information may keep contacting the student after a Student Search opt-out. Schools mailing either home therefore need their own requests.

Student-approved address table

Example for your own use. Replace the bracketed details and review what you share.

Student name as printed: [student name] Student approved these requests (yes/no): [yes/no] Address 1, person handling requests: [address 1], [name] Address 2, person handling requests: [address 2], [name] Schools or programs mailing Address 1: [names] Schools or programs mailing Address 2: [names] ACT form submitted per address (dates): [address, date] Student Search decision and date: [decision], [date] Direct school requests (school, address, date): [school name, address, date]

Assign each home

Agree with the student who sends requests for each address and who keeps the table up to date. When a brochure arrives, the person at that home adds the school to the table before contacting it.
