Stop college mail that continues after Search opt-out
A College Board Student Search opt-out does not remove the information a college already received. College Board says those organizations may keep contacting you and recommends opting out with them directly. Send the college a recruitment-mail request through its official admissions website.
Contact the right school record
- Check the brochure for the school name and any prospective-student identifier. Keep the exact mailing name and address available; do not send test scores or identity documents with a routine marketing request.
- Go to the school’s official admissions website independently. Look for contact or communication preferences that cover mailed recruitment. An email unsubscribe may cover only email.
- Say whether you have an active application at that school. Ask to stop printed recruitment materials while preserving application, enrollment and financial-aid communications you need.
- Record the school and the date of your request. If another brochure arrives, compare its address and identifier with the original before asking the admissions office to check the same record.
Keep the test account and application intact
Closing your College Board account is a much broader action than changing Student Search participation. Use the named marketing preference, and handle the schools that already contacted you separately. ACT Recruit Me is also a separate program with its own official opt-out route.
If a parent helps, let the student approve the request. A household may have more than one student receiving recruitment mail, and the same university can hold different prospect records for each.

Track schools individually
A confirmation from one admissions office covers that school’s stated action. Keep a short list of the other schools still sending unwanted brochures. That list gives you a concrete next request without requiring another change to test registration or an application you want to keep.
