Review catalog records when one roommate leaves
Give the departing roommate a list of the catalogs in their name, and let them update each one. You handle only the catalogs in your own name.
Prepare the handoff list
- Ask the roommate which catalogs and offers they want to keep or stop. Use their answers and the names printed on the outside. Do not open their mail.
- On a shared list, mark each sender as theirs, yours, shared or unknown. Copy only the ones marked theirs onto the handoff note.
- They decide, for each sender, whether to change the address or ask it to stop postal marketing. If they want their mail forwarded, they file the USPS request themselves.
- Talk through any catalog you both receive before either of you asks the sender for a change.
Each preference belongs to the person named
Do not contact a sender in the roommate's name or change their records without their permission. Their forwarding request does not update their catalog preferences, so they still need to contact the senders on the list.

Example for your own use. Replace the bracketed details and review what you share.
Pass along senders you missed
When catalogs in the roommate's name arrive from senders not on the handoff note, send them the sender names. Do not contact those senders yourself.
