Ask a local agent to stop neighborhood marketing
Write to the agent or brokerage printed on the postcard. Name the series you want stopped, such as a recurring market-update card, and the address where it arrives. Naming one campaign gives the sender a specific record to look for, which a general complaint does not.
Pin down the campaign before you write
- Set two or three of the cards side by side. Note the agent's name, the brokerage name, and what the series is called or what it looks like, such as a quarterly market snapshot or a just-sold announcement.
- Copy your name and address exactly as they appear on the mailing label, including any spelling variation. If a code or number appears near the address, copy that too.
- Find a contact route on the card or on the agent's or brokerage's own website. A written route such as email or a mailing address leaves you a record of what you asked.
- Ask the agent to stop mailed marketing to that address. Say that the request covers promotional cards only.
- Write down the date you sent it and the route you used, so you can compare a later card against your request.
What a neighborhood postcard does and does not show
A card that mentions your street or a recent sale nearby shows that the agent is marketing to the area. It does not show that you have any business with that agent, and it does not reveal where the agent got your address. Recorded home-purchase information can become public, and advertisers may use it in mailings. A new owner may therefore get cards without having contacted anyone.
Keep closing documents and actual loan notices out of this exchange. The CFPB advises new homeowners to keep key closing and loan documents. A marketing request does not need them, and an agent's postcard is not the place to look for mortgage, title or insurance guidance.

If the same series keeps coming
Compare the next card with your notes. If the series and address match what you named, reply to your first message. Include the date you sent it and describe the new card. If a different agent's cards start arriving, that agent is a separate sender and needs its own request.
