Avoid putting an address in a public review

A public comment or review that includes your mailing address exposes it to anyone who reads the page. A private request to the sender keeps your address out of public view.

Use a private route instead

  1. Find the sender's official website with a search engine and look for a contact form, privacy request link, or customer service email instead of a public social media page.
  2. Write one clear request giving your name and mailing address and asking to be removed from the mailing list, then send it through that private channel.
  3. If you cannot find a private contact route, photograph the mailer, including the sender name and your mailing label, and use Junk Mail Magic to prepare a removal request for that sender.
  4. Keep a private note of the date and method you used, so you have a record without posting your address anywhere public.

What public posts cannot do

A public comment may or may not reach anyone who can act on it. Customer service, marketing, and list management are often separate teams, so a post can go unanswered while your address stays visible in search results. Some platforms also make comments hard to edit or delete, so the address may stay up longer than you intend. A private request goes to a named channel and adds no new exposure.

One request, one private channel

Keep the removal request in the sender's private contact channel. If you choose to post a public review separately, leave out your mailing label and other personal details. Save the private request and any acknowledgment for follow-up.

Have an unwanted advertisement ready?

Photograph one piece you are authorized to handle, with the sender and full mailing label visible. Review the details before submitting. The first request is free; the sender controls the response.
