Does Premium Forwarding include advertising mail?

Yes. USPS says Premium Forwarding Service Residential includes marketing notices in its weekly shipment. It packs mail at the local Post Office and forwards it by Priority Mail. Paying for that service changes delivery arrangements; it is not a request to an advertiser to remove your address.

Separate the two sets of questions

  1. Read the current PFS-Residential page and confirm that your addresses and planned stay meet its requirements. Do not assume standard forwarding has the same mail handling.
  2. Check the enrollment and weekly fees, start-date instructions and how to change an order before enrolling. Keep those delivery decisions in your USPS account.
  3. Read the mail-type section. Marketing notices, periodicals and First-Class Mail are included in the weekly shipment, while some expedited items are rerouted separately.
  4. For unwanted advertising, contact each identified sender separately. Ask what its postal preference covers, including mail linked to the address you are leaving.

Use the terms for the service you selected

PFS-Residential is a domestic service with address restrictions and its own order procedures. Use its current USPS instructions for eligibility, fees and changes. A short Hold Mail request is a different delivery service; it does not provide the same weekly shipment.

Keep the forwarding confirmation private. An advertiser generally needs the mailing you want identified, not a copy of your USPS account or identity documents. If it asks for more information, establish why through its verified contact.

Questions for USPS

Example for your own use. Replace the bracketed details and review what you share.

Service I am considering: [service name] Which mail types does it forward? [answer] Is advertising mail forwarded? [answer] Current cost and length: [cost], [length] Does it change any advertiser's mailing list? [answer as confirmed] Date asked and where: [date], [location or channel]

Questions to bring to USPS

Record the exact forwarding service chosen, then keep a separate list of advertising requests. If a promotion arrives in the forwarded bundle, use its sender and label details to check the relevant request rather than treating the bundle itself as evidence that USPS missed a preference.

Use the official route described in this guide for this kind of mail. For a separate ordinary advertisement, Junk Mail Magic can help prepare a sender-specific removal request.
