Make a simple mail opt-out log
Removal requests are easy to forget once sent. A simple log shows what you submitted, which route you used, and whether mail from that sender has stopped arriving.
Set up your log
- Create columns for Sender, Label Variant, Request Date, Route, Response, Last Arrival and Notes. Keep one row per request.
- Copy the sender name from the piece. Use Label Variant to distinguish different names, address spellings or customer codes from the same sender.
- Record where and when you sent the request, then add the acknowledgment or reference number if one arrives.
- Update Last Arrival when another piece comes, and keep dated follow-up notes. Store the full log privately; make a redacted copy if you want to share your results.
Choosing what to record and what to leave out
A log that repeats your full mailing address in every row becomes a privacy risk if the file is synced to a shared drive or attached to an email by mistake. Sender name, label variant, and request date are enough to match an entry to a piece of mail later. Keep address details in private records only. If two pieces from the same sender carry different list codes, give each its own row so you can tell which request worked. Log only mail addressed to you or mail you are authorized to handle.
Start with what you already have
Add any removal requests you have already sent as rows now. A log started late is still useful, and once the columns exist, a new row takes only a minute after each submission.

Photograph one piece you are authorized to handle, with the sender and full mailing label visible. Review the details before submitting. The first request is free; the sender controls the response.
