Troubleshoot a form that will not submit
When an opt-out form will not submit, the page often knows why but does not say so clearly. A few quick checks usually find the cause.
How to find and clear the block
- Scroll the whole form after you click submit. Error messages often appear beside the problem field instead of at the top, and long forms hide them easily.
- Check the email address and ZIP code. A stray space from copying and pasting, or a mistyped ZIP code, can block validation.
- Reload the page in a different browser, or clear your current browser's cache, and fill the form in again from the start. An expired session can cause a stuck form.
- If it still will not submit, stop and contact the sender's customer service by phone or email. Do not keep resubmitting without knowing whether an earlier attempt went through.
Why repeated submissions cause trouble
A page that stays on screen does not tell you whether the request was received. Look for an explicit confirmation or error, then check for an acknowledgment in the email account you supplied. If the outcome remains unclear, contact the sender with the time of the attempt and the error text before repeating the submission.
Give support what you have
When you contact the sender, include the address from the mailing label, the date you tried, and the browser you used. That helps their team process the request by hand if the form is broken.
