Preserve a peeling mailing label

Some mailers print your address on a sticker that can curl, peel, or fall off in transit. If the label is lifting at the edges, photograph it before handling the piece further.

How to photograph a loose or peeling label

  1. Keep the label attached and inspect any edge that has lifted or curled.
  2. Flatten the piece gently without covering printed characters or removing the sticker.
  3. Photograph the full recipient label and sender together, with the camera parallel to the paper.
  4. Check the saved image for missing corners or characters. If the label has already been lost, ask support or the sender how to proceed.

If the label is already gone

If the sticker has come off and you no longer have it, look elsewhere on the piece for the sender's name, such as the cover or an inner panel. Do not type in details you cannot see in the photo. If your address and the sender cannot both be shown, contact support at Junk Mail Magic support before submitting.

Leave the label where it is

Keep the original piece until you have checked the photo and reviewed your request. If you later contact the sender, use the label exactly as it was printed rather than replacing an unclear field from memory.
