Review marketing mail that returns after a purchase

If catalogs or flyers start again after you buy something, the purchase may have created a new marketing record. The seller's privacy terms and any choices you made at checkout affect what you can ask for.

What to do when mail resumes

  1. Find the seller's privacy policy or marketing preferences page, through your order email or their website, and read what it says about postal marketing.
  2. Think back to checkout. Look for a mail consent option, a pre-checked box, or a notice about marketing.
  3. Contact customer service using the details on the mail piece or your order confirmation. Ask to be removed from postal marketing while keeping your account.
  4. If the seller does not respond or the answer is unclear, photograph the label on the new piece and submit it through Junk Mail Magic.

Unsubscribing is not closing an account

Stopping marketing mail is different from canceling an account, an order, or a subscription. Ask the seller to confirm that removal from postal marketing leaves your order history and account untouched.

Save the confirmation

When the seller confirms your preference, save the message or note the date and how you contacted them. If mail returns after a later purchase, that record shows you asked first.
