Stop buyer postcards for a house you already sold
Ask the advertiser to remove your name and the sold property's address from its marketing list. An advertiser's mailing list is its own record and may not reflect a recorded ownership change. You do not need to send the deed or closing paperwork to make the request.
Make a short removal request
- Find the advertiser named on the card and look it up yourself. A phone number printed on the card is not a verified contact route.
- Copy the mailing name and address exactly as printed, whether the card uses your name or a generic line.
- State that you no longer own the property and want marketing mail for that name and address removed. Leave out the deed, sale price and closing details.
- If the same advertiser also mails your current address and you want that stopped as well, name that address in the same request.
Why the request goes to the sender
The CFPB notes that recorded purchase and mortgage information can become public and that advertisers may use it in mailings. Updated county records do not show whether a particular advertiser has changed its list, so send the request to the sender, not the recording office.
A marketing request does not change legal, mortgage or tax records. If something arrives that looks like a real loan or title notice, contact the lender or title company you already know through a route you trust, and keep your closing documents with your other records.

Keep a dated sender note
Write down each advertiser you contacted and the date. If another buyer postcard reaches you, check the name against that note. Follow up with a repeat sender using any timing it gave you, and send a new sender its own request.
