Control decoration catalogs after the season

Name the seasonal catalog in your request and ask the sender whether the preference covers future editions or only the current mailing. Recycling this year's copy will not stop next year's.

Write a request that covers future editions

  1. Copy the catalog title, season and company name exactly as printed. Include any edition or volume number.
  2. Note the name and address on the mailing label so the sender can find the right record.
  3. Type the company's web address yourself and check its contact or preferences page for a printed-catalog choice and any note about how long a preference lasts.
  4. Ask whether the request applies to later editions of this title and to other catalogs the company sends. Ask for a reply that answers both questions.

Mention every title from this sender

If the same company has also sent a main catalog or a different seasonal book, list those titles too. Ask whether one preference covers all of them. Do not assume one request covers every title.

If you still want order messages or loyalty notices, say so in the request. A catalog request does not cancel orders, subscriptions, warranties or recalls. The sender can explain which records it keeps. Do not tell the sender that a past purchase caused the mailing.

Sample seasonal catalog request

Example for your own use. Replace the bracketed details and review what you share.

Please stop printed catalogs titled [catalog title] for [name as printed] at [mailing address]. The copy I received is the [season or edition] issue. Does this request cover future editions? Does it also cover [other titles received]? This is a postal advertising request only. I am not asking to change any order or account.

Set a reminder for next season

Before discarding this year's copy, put the title and edition in a calendar reminder for the start of next season. If the catalog arrives again, reply to your original request with the new edition details and ask the company to review your record.
