Ask to stop one catalog brand
Several catalog titles can come from one parent company, and a broad request may stop titles you still want. Name the specific brand so the sender knows which mailings to end.
How to write a brand-specific request
- Write the catalog title as it appears on the cover or label. Use the parent company name only if it is also the name on the piece you received.
- Say the request applies to that title only, and repeat the title in the body of the letter instead of writing "this catalog."
- If you get other titles from the same sender and want them to continue, list those by name.
- Send the request to the address on the catalog's contact page or inside cover, and note the title, address, and date.
Parent companies and shared lists
A parent company may run one mailing list for several brands. Removal from one brand's list may or may not remove you from the others, and one form should not be assumed to cover sister brands. If you cannot tell how a sender handles this, ask before sending a broad request. Our guide at stop catalogs in the mail guide covers how catalog lists commonly work.
Keep the titles you want
After the removal takes effect, watch whether the catalogs you want still arrive. If they stopped too, write to the sender with the titles you want back and the date of your original request.
