Use an old label covered by a forwarding sticker

A forwarding sticker over the original label means the piece carries two addresses: the one the sender mailed to and the one used for delivery. Both can matter in a removal request, but for different reasons.

How to document a forwarded piece

  1. Leave the sticker in place and photograph the piece so the sticker and any visible part of the original label appear in one image.
  2. Write down the address on the sticker and any readable part of the original label, and note which is which.
  3. Submit the photo through Junk Mail Magic. In your note, say the piece arrived with a forwarding sticker and quote the address versions you can read.
  4. Ask the sender which address it holds under your name, since its record may show the original address.

What forwarding does and does not change

Compare the original printed address with the address on the forwarding sticker. When contacting the sender, explain which address appears on its original label and ask what it needs to locate that record. Keep the sticker visible in your reference photo. Do not assume that delivery to your new home proves the sender updated its list.

Ask which address is on file

In your request, ask the sender to confirm which address appears under your name. If it is the original address, ask to remove that record. If it is the new one, ask to remove that instead.
