Ask an EDDM advertiser to leave out your address
Contact the business behind the specific Every Door Direct Mail campaign you want to stop. USPS’s EDDM Retail instructions tell mailers to put addresses that requested removal in the Do Not Deliver Address column on their facing slips. That request applies to the advertiser’s mailing, not every company using the route.
Identify the campaign before contacting the sender
- Keep the advertiser’s name and the offer or campaign title. Resident wording can appear on different types of mail, so avoid assuming every unnamed flyer uses EDDM.
- Find the business’s official contact route. A local franchise, advertiser or publisher may handle the campaign; ask who manages this particular postal distribution if the first contact is unsure.
- Provide the exact delivery address, including the unit number. Ask whether they can exclude it from future drops of the identified campaign using their mailing process.
- Save the response under that advertiser’s name. If the same campaign arrives again, send a concise follow-up with the earlier request date and the new arrival date.
An address exclusion has a specific scope
An EDDM campaign reaches a carrier route. The advertiser may have no individual customer record under your name, so a request to find and delete an account can miss the point. Ask about the delivery address and the mailing campaign itself.
Another business can run a separate campaign on the same route. A response from the restaurant down the street does not establish a preference with a roofing company or coupon publisher. Keep separate entries for the senders you have actually contacted.

Use the sender’s answer to choose the next step
Ask the advertiser to clarify what its response covers if it refers only to an email list or customer account. Junk Mail Magic cannot place a universal block on USPS route advertising. For an unidentified flyer, establish who is sending it before preparing a removal request.

Choose the route that matches the mailing
Use the official route described in this guide for this kind of mail. For a separate ordinary advertisement, Junk Mail Magic can help prepare a sender-specific removal request.
