Request less mail without requesting every customer record
If all you want is fewer printed promotions, ask the company to stop postal marketing and say your account should stay open. Asking to see or delete all of your customer data is a bigger request with different results. Make it only if you want that outcome.
Word the request narrowly
- Check the company's official preference page first. A marketing or mail choice there may be all you need.
- If there is no such choice, use the contact route on its website and give your name and address as printed on the mailer.
- Say that account, service and transactional messages should continue. Leave out payment details and identity documents unless the company's official process asks for verification.
- Save the confirmation and read what the company says the change covers.
Why a broad request can backfire
A deletion request can affect more than advertising. Depending on the company's process, it could touch records you rely on. A request limited to marketing asks for a narrower change. Check the sender's confirmation to see what it actually changed.
California's DROP is a different tool. It sends deletion requests to participating registered data brokers, and its official description excludes first-party data. A store you buy from directly may keep mailing you after a DROP request, so the store still needs its own postal preference.
Sample narrow request
Example for your own use. Replace the bracketed details and review what you share.
If the company cannot separate them
If the reply says marketing mail and account mail cannot be separated, ask which choices it does offer, such as fewer catalogs or ending one type of promotion. Start a full access or deletion request only if you have decided you want that for its own reasons.

Choose the route that matches the mailing
Use the official route described in this guide for this kind of mail. For a separate ordinary advertisement, Junk Mail Magic can help prepare a sender-specific removal request.
