Ask about a sponsored calendar mailing

Send your request to the organization that chose who received the calendar. That may not be the name printed largest. Ask about this annual promotional calendar only, and say which other local mail you want to keep receiving.

Find who picked the recipients

  1. Read every credit on the calendar, front and back. Write down the sponsor, any printer or publisher line, and any local group named as a beneficiary.
  2. Check the mailing panel or envelope for a return address. A logo or headline does not tell you who mailed the calendar or who holds the address list.
  3. Use your own search to find the official contact page for the most likely sender, and look for a marketing or mailing contact.
  4. Name the year or edition printed on the calendar, and list the local notices you want to keep, such as a school or township schedule.
  5. If the sponsor says another company handled the mailing, send that company the same request and keep both replies.

When no name is printed

USPS says Every Door Direct Mail targets carrier routes and does not require a list of individual names. If your calendar has no personal name on it, the sender may find no record when it searches for you. In that case, ask whether your address can be left out of future mailings.

For EDDM Retail, USPS tells mailers to list addresses that asked for removal in the Do Not Deliver Address column on facing slips. The mailer does this step. You do not file anything with USPS. A request covers only that sender and does not change what other residents receive.

Sample request about a sponsored calendar

Example for your own use. Replace the bracketed details and review what you share.

I received a promotional calendar for [year] at [mailing address] showing [sponsor name]. Could you tell me who selected recipients for this mailing? Could my address be left out of future calendar mailings? Please do not change [local notices or other mail I want to keep]. You can reply to [contact method].

If a different item arrives

The same sponsor might later send something other than the calendar, such as a seasonal flyer. Write to the sender about that item separately, and mention the edition you named in your first request so the sender can find both.
