How to Stop Salvation Army Mail

The Salvation Army USA FAQ directs requests to stop mailings or calls to Donor Services. Use its online inquiry route or 1-800-SAL-ARMY (725-2769), and specify unwanted paper mail for the name and address on your appeal.

Use Donor Services, not the donation form

The national contact FAQ has a specific question about stopping mailings or calls. It gives the online inquiry route and Donor Services phone. Call 1-800-725-2769 or follow the current inquiry link on that page.

State no postal fundraising mail and give the printed recipient and full address. Keep any reference and the territory or local organization named on the envelope available. Do not enter a donation form just to reach the team, and do not send a payment to clarify an unwanted mailing.

Please stop Salvation Army USA postal fundraising mail for [name as printed] at [full mailing address, including unit and ZIP code]. The printed sender or territory is [sender] and the reference, if present, is [reference].

Please confirm the postal record and preference changed. This is not a request to cancel an existing gift, change a donation pickup or stop services. Please let me know if another office maintains this mailing record.

Paper removal and gift changes are different tasks

The FAQ covers updating personal information, recurring donations and refunds separately from mailing removal. Use the mailing question for a communication preference. If you still give, say that the gift should remain unchanged.

A donation acknowledgment can be useful even when an appeal is unwanted. Describe the actual piece instead of asking for every message to stop. A confirmation about a monthly gift change is not proof that a postal preference was recorded.

The FAQ publishes timing for donation receipts and some gift changes. Those periods are not paper-mail suppression deadlines. Save the date of your mailing request and the response rather than borrowing a timeline from a different task.

Thrift-store pickups use a different route

The same FAQ sends goods-donation and pickup questions to SATRUCK and its separate phone number. That is not the mailing-removal route named for financial donor records. A scheduled pickup does not need to be cancelled simply because you want no fundraising letters.

Local assistance, volunteer opportunities and service-center searches also have their own purposes. Match the appeal's sender before choosing a contact topic. If the record belongs to a territory or local office, ask Donor Services how to reach the responsible team instead of assuming every office shares one preference.

Follow up with the printed record

Compare a later envelope's name, unit and reference with the original appeal. A spelling variation or second person at the address can indicate a different record. Describe that difference accurately; do not impersonate another recipient merely to stop their mail.

Keep a copy of the narrow request and ask whether a repeat appeal was prepared earlier or remains associated with another record. Copying this draft does not send it, submit the inquiry or establish removal. These instructions concern Salvation Army USA, not every national Salvation Army organization.

Show the Salvation Army sender and label

Include any territory or local sender shown on the appeal. Contact Donor Services yourself and retain its mailing-preference response.
