How to Stop NRDC Fundraising Mail

NRDC's privacy policy directs communication changes to membership@nrdc.org. Ask specifically for no postal fundraising appeals, rather than changing an email profile or requesting deletion of all your data.

Use Membership for paper-mail preferences

In its privacy policy, the Natural Resources Defense Council publishes membership@nrdc.org for communication opt-outs and information changes. State the postal outcome and identify the record printed on your appeal.

Keep the request short enough to route correctly. Start with no paper fundraising mail, followed by the exact recipient and full address. Include the apartment or unit and any printed membership reference. If mail arrives under two names, identify both without claiming that you are authorized to change another person's preferences.

Please stop NRDC postal fundraising appeals and requests to become a member for [name as printed] at [full mailing address, including unit and ZIP code].

Please keep gifts and necessary receipts unchanged. Please confirm the paper-mail preference recorded and the allowance for mail already prepared. Additional printed versions are [duplicates, if any].

The Subscriber Profile Editor concerns email lists

The policy describes its Subscriber Profile Editor as a way to choose email lists. It also names a separate route for data deletion. Neither is a reason to assume that opening an email settings page has removed your postal address.

If you still want action alerts by email, say so alongside the paper request. If you want those stopped too, make the two channel choices explicit. Do not use broad instructions to erase everything unless that is genuinely your intended privacy request.

An email reply asking for clarification may concern an address mismatch rather than failure. Compare the printed label with the details you sent before starting again. Correct one missing unit number or spelling instead of sending several versions of an unexplained unsubscribe message.

Check which NRDC organization sent the appeal

The policy covers NRDC and NRDC Action Fund sources. That scope does not establish that every appeal is attached to the same record. Include the organization name and return address from the actual envelope so Membership can explain which preference it recorded.

Ask separately about future address sharing if that is also your concern. This guide does not claim a dedicated sharing checkbox or that stopping one sender removes you from every environmental organization's list. Keep a different sender's envelope for a separate, correctly routed request.

Keep receipts and follow-up evidence

The communication-preference instruction does not publish a fixed paper-mail processing deadline. Ask for the applicable allowance in the reply; do not import a privacy-rights deadline or another charity's mailing schedule.

Save the request date, the response and one recent label if mail continues. Ask whether the latest item was already prepared or reflects a second active record. A message received by Membership is not proof of a changed preference, and a changed preference is not a cancellation of a recurring gift. Copying the template does not send it or establish removal.
