How to Stop Nature Conservancy Mail

The Nature Conservancy publishes member@tnc.org and 1-800-628-6860 for postal opt-outs. Keep your mailing label, including any code beginning AHOMQ. Members can ask for fewer appeals or stop the magazine without requesting membership cancellation.

Not a member? Include the invitation code

The Nature Conservancy FAQ asks nonmembers requesting removal for their name and address exactly as printed, plus the mailing code beginning AHOMQ when present. It says that code may help trace where the name came from.

Send the details to member@tnc.org or call 1-800-628-6860. Do not discard the label before you read the code. You do not need to join or donate to ask for mailing-list removal.

Please stop Nature Conservancy postal invitations and appeals for [exact recipient name and address]. The AHOMQ mailing code, if present, is [code].

Please confirm the postal preference recorded. If you can identify the source of this invitation from its code, please tell me which organization supplied the record.

Members can change mail without canceling

The FAQ discusses reduced mail and stopping the magazine separately from membership cancellation. Tell Member Care exactly what you want to keep. “No fundraising appeals, but keep my magazine” is different from “stop the magazine too.”

If you want a recurring gift or membership changed, make that a separate instruction and ask for its own confirmation. Junk Mail Magic does not cancel payments or memberships. Avoid using the cancellation wording when your only goal is a quieter mailbox.

Duplicate magazines may need a record merge

The FAQ offers to merge duplicate memberships and asks for names, addresses, membership numbers where available and the preferred record details. Separate donations under different names or addresses can produce duplicate records.

For two copies, compare both labels before asking for a merge. Decide which name and address should remain. If you want no postal mail, also say that: merging two records into one is not itself the same as suppressing the remaining record.

For someone else's name, the FAQ has a separate removal answer using the same Member Care contacts. Provide that recipient's label details instead of replacing them with your own. If the person has died, our deceased-person guide covers other mail that may need attention.

Postal timing is not the email deadline

The privacy notice allows 30 to 60 days for postal mailings already underway. Its email guidance uses a different timeframe; do not apply that to envelopes.

Save the request and compare any later label with the record you supplied. If the same version continues after the relevant window, ask Member Care whether it was included. A new invitation from another organization needs a separate contact, even when the two groups work on similar causes.

Have a different conservation appeal?

Nature Conservancy Member Care handles its own records. Photograph the actual sender and label of another unwanted mailer if you want help identifying it. Your first request is free.
