Stop National Kidney Foundation Mail

The National Kidney Foundation publishes a policy for discontinuing contact after a written request. That policy is broader than paper fundraising mail. Decide whether you want a full no-contact record or only fewer appeals, and state the scope before submitting your request.

Read what a no-contact request changes

The official Policy on Discontinuing Contact accepts a written request from a person or an authorized representative. It describes removing or modifying a record so further contact stops, and taking steps for external records under NKF's control.

It allows a direct answer to an inquiry you or your representative later initiate without undoing the no-contact record. It also retains a record of the request for relevant legal, liability and retention purposes. Suppression is not a promise to erase every trace of your relationship with the Foundation.

Use the published written-request route

NKF's privacy policy lists compliance@kidney.org for requests to object to or restrict processing, and ties its review to the discontinuing-contact policy. Reference that policy in a written no-contact request rather than treating a newsletter unsubscribe as the same instruction.

For a narrower paper-only preference, the official contact page has a message form. Explain that you want fundraising mail stopped while preserving any assistance you use, and ask the team to confirm whether that narrower choice is available. This guide does not claim a verified paper-only checkbox.

A written request for the broad policy

Use this version only if you want the policy's no-contact scope. If you just want fewer appeals, replace that instruction with your preferred paper schedule and seek confirmation.

Under the National Kidney Foundation Policy on Discontinuing Contact, please record a no-contact request for [name as printed] at [full mailing address, including unit and ZIP code]. Recent mail shows [record or mailing codes, if present]. Please apply the request to the relevant NKF records and external records under NKF control. I understand that a direct response to an inquiry I initiate can remain possible. Please confirm the recorded scope. I am not requesting a payment change or submitting medical information.

Match the actual organization and authority

Check the appeal's full sender name before contacting national NKF. A similarly named kidney charity, independently managed event or local organization may have its own database. Ask who owns the label record if the national team cannot find it.

An authorized representative can use the published policy, but should describe that authority honestly. Do not impersonate a former resident or attach another person's health records to prove that an envelope is unwanted. Ask the Foundation what verification it needs through its official process.

Keep a record of the scope confirmed

The cited policy does not specify a universal final postal-delivery deadline. Ask whether mail is already prepared and when to check back. Retain the written request, response and label so a later follow-up identifies the unresolved record.

If the problem is an appeal rather than all contact, avoid broad deletion language by default. A useful confirmation should say what contact was restricted, not merely that an email was received. Keep questions about services and donation receipts in a separate message.

Use the label without including medical details

Contact the Foundation yourself with the printed name and address. Keep a fundraising request distinct from treatment or assistance questions.
