How to Stop IRC Fundraising Mail
The International Rescue Committee directs postal-mail opt-outs to donorservices@rescue.org or its Privacy Request Form. State the paper-mail change separately from email, calls and information sharing.
The policy expressly covers postal mail
The IRC's privacy policy gives donorservices@rescue.org for stopping postal mail, email or calls, and for stopping sharing with other charitable organizations. Choose the changes you want rather than treating them as one automatic action.
Include the recipient and address from the appeal. The email you use to send the request may be different from the email in a donor account, and neither identifies a paper label on its own. Add a printed donor reference if present, but do not attach payment records or passwords.
Please stop International Rescue Committee postal fundraising appeals for [name as printed] at [full mailing address, including unit and ZIP code].
Please also stop sharing this record with other charitable organizations for their own purposes. Keep necessary donation receipts and leave recurring gifts unchanged. Please confirm both changes.
Understand the linked privacy form
The policy also links the Privacy Request Form. Its public choices cover data access, deletion, correction, sharing and other rights. They do not include a dedicated paper-mail checkbox. For a simple postal preference, the published donor-services email avoids guessing at a broader data action.
If you use the form for a privacy request, read its scope and describe the intended outcome. It separates a person making their own request from an authorized agent. Do not claim to be someone else or select a data-deletion request as a shortcut for stopping envelopes.
The form says the reply email can be used for communications about the request. That is different from opting in to every fundraising message. Keep the confirmation associated with the specific request you made.
Keep sharing and necessary records separate
If you only want IRC paper appeals stopped, remove the sharing sentence from the template. If you also want future charitable sharing stopped, retain it and ask support to confirm that decision separately.
A mailing preference is not a demand to erase every record of a gift. Required receipts and other necessary records can serve a different purpose. Keeping the request narrow helps you explain what should stop without accidentally asking for a change to your monthly support.
Follow up through the same official route
The cited opt-out section does not give a fixed postal wait. Ask the donor-services team when to follow up, then keep a later label if appeals persist. Reference the earlier message and identify any spelling or address difference.
Check that the sender is the International Rescue Committee at rescue.org before sharing details. For another relief charity, use its own contact rather than this form. The charity-mail guide helps keep a mixed pile tied to the right organizations.
