How to Stop Catholic Relief Services Mail

Call Catholic Relief Services at 1-877-435-7277 to change postal contact preferences. If you also want your name excluded from address exchanges, ask for its do-not-share list separately.

Ask for the paper-mail preference

The CRS privacy policy publishes 1-877-435-7277 for preferences covering mail, email, phone and name exchange. Say which channel you want stopped. An email-only unsubscribe or a text STOP reply is not a clear instruction about envelopes arriving at your home.

Before calling, place the appeal beside you. Read the recipient name and address exactly as printed, including any apartment or unit. If two versions arrive, have both labels ready rather than describing them as the same household. The person handling the request needs to know which records you mean.

Please stop Catholic Relief Services postal fundraising appeals for [name as printed] at [full mailing address, including unit and ZIP code].

Please also add this record to the CRS do-not-share list. Keep necessary donation receipts and leave recurring gifts unchanged. Please confirm both preferences.

Address exchange is a separate choice

CRS says it does not sell donor information but sometimes exchanges addresses with other nonprofits. Its do-not-share instruction asks for your exact name and address. It lists Catholic Relief Services-USCCB, P.O. Box 5278, Tipton, IA 52772-0517 for written sharing-preference requests.

That sharing choice concerns future use of your record in exchanges. Do not assume it removes an address another charity already holds. If a different organization writes to you, identify that sender and request its own postal change. Keep the two decisions visible in your notes: CRS appeals and CRS address sharing.

Use the donor route, not an unrelated privacy form

The policy links a donor self-service center for some preferences and separate regional privacy web forms. It does not give a specific menu sequence for turning off all donor paper mail. The published phone instruction is clearer than guessing which account setting will do that.

Use an official CRS page to find current contacts. A policy page that requires browser verification is not confirmation that a preference has been recorded. If you cannot load it, use the published phone route. Do not send your address to an inbox assembled from a guessed word such as privacy.

What to keep after the call

The cited policy does not give a fixed postal-processing deadline. Ask the representative what allowance applies to mail already prepared and write down the answer with the date. A general acknowledgment is less useful than a reply describing the actual preferences changed.

Keep one later envelope if mail continues past that allowance. Compare its label before following up and reference the earlier request. Do not confuse CRS with another Catholic charity, parish or local appeal. Our charity-mail process keeps those sender records separate without changing donations.
