How to Stop American Lung Association Mail

The American Lung Association Consumer Choice Menu includes a no-mailings option. It also offers reduced schedules, email-only appeals and choices about complimentary gifts. Select the paper-mail outcome you want, not just email unsubscribe.

Use the Consumer Choice Menu for physical mail

The Consumer Choice Menu asks for name, email and postal address, including a second street line. Choose its no-mailings option to stop paper delivery. An email-only option is available if you want appeals retained in your inbox instead.

The privacy policy specifically directs postal removal and list-exchange preferences to this menu. Its short Lung.org/consumerchoice address now leads to the full page linked here. Use the complete mailing label to identify the record rather than entering only an email address.

Please record that I do not wish to receive any American Lung Association mailings for [name as printed] at [full mailing address, including unit and ZIP code]. The printed reference, if present, is [reference].

Please also record that I do not want my name shared with other charitable organizations. Please confirm both choices and explain any effect on donation acknowledgments, without changing an existing gift.

Fewer letters and fewer gifts are different choices

The menu offers eight, four, two or one mailing per year. These are reduced schedules, not complete removal. It also offers mail without complimentary items such as greeting cards, address labels or notepads. That choice reduces enclosures, not necessarily the letters themselves.

Decide whether the unwanted part is the frequency, the enclosed gifts or all paper appeals. Save the option you actually selected. If you later receive a letter under a reduced schedule, compare it with that choice before asking why a full unsubscribe failed.

A separate option concerns donation acknowledgment and thank-you mailings. Read it before selecting: you may want receipts retained even while stopping appeals. Do not treat every box as an additional way to improve the same unsubscribe.

Choose name sharing and deceased-recipient status separately

The menu has an independent do-not-share choice for other charitable organizations. Use it if you want that future sharing changed too. A preference for the Lung Association's own letters does not by itself document an outside-list change.

It also lets you identify a request for a deceased relative or friend. Describe the actual recipient and record; do not use that status merely to seek faster removal. For another sender's letter, identify that organization and use its own published route.

Allow for mail already being produced

The menu warns that requests may take two to three months to be fully in effect because mailings may already be in production. Keep the submission date and any confirmation. This is the sender's stated allowance, not a guarantee of an exact final delivery.

If paper continues, compare the label and request details. The policy publishes 1-800-586-4872 for assistance. Ask which record and choices changed. Copying this draft does not submit the menu, cancel a donation or establish that a postal preference was accepted.

Keep the Lung Association label readable

Save the printed name and full address. Choose the paper preference yourself on the official Consumer Choice Menu.
