Stop tutoring-center sales postcards

Send your stop request to the tutoring business named on the postcard. If the card shows both a national brand and a local center, name both. Keep the request about postal advertising only. It does not need to mention the student's grades, school or needs.

Find the business behind the card

  1. Read the fine print near the address panel and along the bottom edge. Look for a center address, an owner or operator name, or wording such as 'independently owned and operated'.
  2. Write down every business name on the card exactly as printed: the brand, the location name and the center address.
  3. Open the business website yourself by typing the address printed on the card, then find the contact page for the location named on the card.
  4. Send the request to the location named on the card and mention the brand. If you can't tell which one handles mail, ask in the request.
  5. Keep the postcard so you can compare it with any later card.

Reading a brand name and a local address

A logo and a local address do not show who keeps the mailing list or how the address was obtained. Naming both businesses lets whoever reads your request send it to the right place.

The postcard is advertising. Test registrations, applications, financial aid and score reports are separate and should stay as they are. If a teen asked for tutoring information, let them decide before you send anything.

Sample stop-mail request

Example for your own use. Replace the bracketed details and review what you share.

Please stop printed promotional mailings from [center name] at [center address] to [name as printed] at [mailing address]. I received a postcard dated [date] that also names [national brand, if any]. I am asking to end postal advertising only. If another office handles this list, please tell me which one. Please confirm what you are able to change.

If a second card shows up

Compare a later card with the one you kept. A different location or operator is a reason to check which marketing record it uses, not proof of a different sender. Ask the contact you verified whether the earlier preference covers the new card before creating another request.
