Turn one recurring mailer into a removal request

Putting a catalog in the recycling bin does not tell the sender to stop. If the same piece keeps coming, a removal request is the way to say so.

Moving from recycling to requesting removal

  1. Choose one mailer that keeps arriving and that you have only been recycling, and take the most recent copy from your stack.
  2. Check that it shows a readable sender name and a mailing label with your own address.
  3. Photograph the sender name and label together, then review the details Junk Mail Magic prepares, sign in, and submit. Write the date in your list.
  4. Keep recycling any copies that arrive while you wait, and note whether new ones stop coming.

What a request can and cannot do

A request asks the sender to stop mailing you, but the sender decides if and when its list changes, and the service does not guarantee a result. Mail already printed may still arrive. Stopping advertising is also a different thing from canceling an account, a donation, or a subscription. If a mailer keeps coming after a long wait, see the guide to timing and follow-up.

Choosing the next mailer

Once your most frequent repeat sender is submitted, take the next one from your stack and repeat the steps. Each dated entry in your list shows you what you have already asked for.

Have an unwanted advertisement ready?

Photograph one piece you are authorized to handle, with the sender and full mailing label visible. Review the details before submitting. The first request is free; the sender controls the response.
