Stop rental-car sales mail after a trip
Ask the rental company to stop postal marketing tied to your customer record, and list the mail you still want: receipts, toll or fee notices and damage correspondence. If you only mention the rental, staff may read the request more broadly or more narrowly than you meant.
Separate promotions from trip paperwork
- Sort the company's mail into two piles. Receipts, toll or fee notices and anything about damage or a dispute go in the keep pile and are not part of this request. Coupons and offers go in the other pile.
- Look for communication preferences on the company's official site, or call a number you already trust. Check whether the option covers paper mail or only email.
- Name the completed rental and its approximate dates, so the company can match the request to your record without you sending documents.
- Ask the company to end printed promotions only, and say plainly that rental and billing notices should continue.
- If you cannot tell whether a piece is a promotion or a notice, check it through a contact route you already trust before you ignore it or answer it.
Keep the request about marketing
A promotions request should not ask the company to change a reservation, loyalty points or a membership. Handle any of those separately. Do not discard a fee or damage letter just because it looks like advertising. If you rented for an employer or for another person, get their permission before you write about their record.

Check what arrives next
Look at the first piece from the company after your request. If it is a promotion, follow up through the same contact route, quote your earlier request and give its date. If it is a toll, fee or damage notice, deal with it on its own terms and keep it with your rental paperwork.
