Reduce paper appeals as a monthly donor

Monthly donors can still receive plenty of paper appeals. You can ask the charity to cut them back while your recurring gift continues. Keep the two requests separate.

Steps to reduce paper while keeping your gift

  1. Contact the charity's donor services team, say you are a monthly donor, and ask it to reduce or stop paper appeals without touching your gift schedule.
  2. Ask the representative to confirm that your payment method and gift amount will stay the same after the preference update.
  3. Ask whether the charity has a communication track for monthly donors with fewer mailings.
  4. If appeals continue, photograph one ordinary appeal with the sender and your full mailing label visible and submit it to Junk Mail Magic. An authorized user should review the details first.

Keep the gift and the mailing separate

Recurring gifts and mailing lists may be handled separately, but this varies by charity, so confirm with the representative that a mailing change will not affect your payment. Unsubscribing from marketing mail is different from canceling a donation, so do not cancel the gift as a way to cut the mail. If you ever want to end the gift, handle that in a separate conversation.

Confirm the gift is unchanged

After the call, check that your next scheduled gift processes as usual. If the charity sends written confirmation of your preference change, save it with your giving records.
