Keep email offers while stopping paper mail
If you want paper mail to stop but email offers to continue, say both in the same request. Senders handle this differently, and stopping one channel does not guarantee the other stays.
How to write a channel-specific request
- Open with the removal: "Please remove [name and address] from your postal mailing list." Copy the address as it appears on the label.
- Add your email preference: "I would like to continue receiving your email offers at [email address]." Use the address the sender already has, if you know it.
- Ask the sender to confirm that postal and email preferences are handled separately and that this request will not change your email record.
- Send it to customer service or the sender's preference center. A general unsubscribe link may apply to every channel at once.
What senders can separate
Some senders keep postal and email preferences in separate systems, and some use a single opt-out for all marketing. If a preference center offers a postal-only setting, use it. If it does not, ask customer service whether the two channels can be managed separately before you rely on a letter to do it.
Check the confirmation
Look for a reply that names both results: postal mail stopped and email kept. If it mentions only one, write back and ask about the other. Our guide at the comparison of postal opt-out options covers preference-center routes that may be quicker.
