Stop occasion-based jewelry-store mail

If a jeweler sends cards timed to anniversaries or holidays, ask the store to stop occasion-based marketing mail. The request can name the card without explaining the occasion or what you bought.

Make a narrow, private request

  1. Identify the sender from the card: the store name, the return address, and the exact name and address on the envelope.
  2. Decide how much to say. The request only needs to name the mailing and ask the store to stop occasion-based promotions. It does not need a date or a reason.
  3. Contact the jeweler through its official website or a store location you know belongs to it, and ask how to end printed promotional reminders.
  4. If you have an item in for repair, appraisal or warranty service, name it and ask that communication about it continue.

Frame it as an advertising preference

Ask the store to stop reminder-style promotions whatever prompted them. You do not have to confirm an anniversary, a relationship or a past purchase. If staff ask for more detail to find your record, you can decide then what to share, such as the name and address printed on the card.

Sample occasion-mail request

Example for your own use. Replace the bracketed details and review what you share.

Please stop printed promotional mail and occasion-based reminders sent to [name as printed] at [mailing address] by [store name]. I am asking about advertising only. Please continue any communication about [open repair, appraisal or warranty item, if any]. The most recent card I received is dated [date] and came from [return address].

Check after the next occasion

After the next anniversary or holiday the store mailed around, see whether a card arrived. If one did, compare its name and address with your request and send a short reply that cites the date of your first request and the new card.
