Prepare for an Informed Delivery identity-verification visit
If USPS cannot verify your identity online for Informed Delivery, it offers an in-person route at locations that provide Identity Verification Services. Follow the instructions from your own enrollment process before visiting. A nearby Post Office may not offer the service.
Make a visit checklist
- Check whether enrollment stopped at address eligibility or identity verification. Those are separate checks. A verification visit does not make an unsupported address eligible.
- Use the in-person option offered in your USPS enrollment process. Save its instructions, including any barcode and completion deadline.
- Choose a location listed for the service and confirm its hours. Do not plan the trip around a branch that the process has not identified as participating.
- Gather the identification and any other documents your instructions request. Keep the barcode available in the format USPS specifies.
- After the visit, retain any confirmation and check the enrollment status through USPS. Follow up through USPS if the result remains unresolved.
Use the instructions issued for your request
USPS's published sign-up guide illustrates the in-person flow, including a barcode and a selected location. Treat it as an explanation of the process. Use your current enrollment instructions for accepted documents, deadlines and what to bring.
The current Informed Delivery page also explains address eligibility. Some apartment and condominium addresses do not have uniquely coded mailboxes. If that is the problem shown during enrollment, ask USPS about the address issue before arranging an identity check.

Take the checklist, not a guessed document list
Before leaving, confirm the location, hours, deadline, barcode and requested documents. Identity documents should go through the USPS verification process; they are not needed for a Junk Mail Magic advertising request.

Choose the route that matches the mailing
Use the official route described in this guide for this kind of mail. For a separate ordinary advertisement, Junk Mail Magic can help prepare a sender-specific removal request.
