Plan prescreen choices for two adults at one address

Each adult decides about prescreened offers for their own record. Sharing an address does not let one person opt out for the other. Give each adult a separate checklist, and have each person complete their own request through the official prescreen service.

Split the decision by person

  1. Sort the offers by the name printed on each one, even when both adults' offers come in the same envelope stack.
  2. Ask each adult whether they want to opt out, and if so, which option. The official service offers five-year and permanent choices. Permanent removal requires returning the signed election form.
  3. Have each adult enter their own details on the official service. Do not gather the other person's Social Security number or identity details to fill in for them.
  4. Record each person's completion date on their own worksheet.

When the adults choose differently

One adult may prefer permanent removal, the other five years, and either may keep receiving offers. The official FAQ limits third-party submissions to specified legal roles; living at the same address is not the same as holding that authority. Each adult can complete their own ordinary request.

For a company’s own customer-list promotions, each recipient can contact that sender about their own preference. Being a customer does not by itself tell you which list produced a particular offer.

Private worksheet, one per adult

Example for your own use. Replace the bracketed details and review what you share.

Name as printed on offers: [name] This adult agreed to opt out: [yes/no] Option chosen: [five-year/permanent/none] Completed on official service by this adult: [date] Signed election form returned, if permanent: [yes/no/not needed] Customer senders to ask directly: [bank or insurer names]

Route each new offer

When an offer arrives, match the printed name to that person's worksheet and hand it to them. If someone chose the permanent option, check whether their signed form has been returned before treating the request as finished.
