Ask about a digital association magazine
A printed association magazine is often a membership benefit and not a marketing mailing. If a digital edition exists, or if print can be turned off, depends on the association and your type of membership.
How to ask about digital magazine access
- Log into your membership account or contact the membership office. Ask whether the magazine has a digital edition and whether it comes with your membership.
- Ask whether choosing digital stops the print copy or whether you would receive both.
- If digital access is offered, ask where it is delivered, such as a website, an app, or email, and make sure you can log in before you change anything about print.
- Ask for written confirmation of the change. Also ask whether your dues, benefits, or voting rights are affected.
When digital may not be an option
Some associations publish only in print, and others offer digital access only to certain membership levels. Some deliver the magazine through a separate login. If your account does not show a digital option, ask the membership team directly. Do not cancel or downgrade your membership just to stop the print copy until you know what else would change.
Keep your membership address current
Whether you choose digital or keep print, check that the address on your membership record is correct, since an old one can delay either format. If the magazine seems to be unrequested marketing and not a membership benefit, see stop magazines in the mail guide.
