Separate airline offers from co-branded card mail
An airline logo on a card offer does not identify who maintains the mailing record. Read the issuer name and the promotional fine print, then ask the verified sender which preference covers this piece. Make a separate request to the airline only for advertising it sends or a preference it controls.
Read the mailer for names
- Note the airline name and the issuer name separately. Check both the logos on the front and the legal text on the back.
- Record the return address and any phone number or website printed for questions about the offer, and note which company each one belongs to.
- Fill in the worksheet, but do not record any account, application or card number.
- Look for a mailing-preference option on the issuer's official website, and ask the airline separately about its own promotions.
- Do not assume a card offer is prescreened. If the mailer says it is, a separate opt-out program covers that type of offer. A direct request to the issuer is still an option.
Two companies, two requests
Stopping mail from one company does not show what the other company will do. Read each preference as written. If you already hold the card, say so in your request, because a direct request can cover existing customers too. Closing a card or leaving a loyalty program is not necessary to make a marketing request, which leaves miles and card terms as they are.

Confirm which preference changed
Record whether the reply covers the issuer's card offers, the airline's own promotions or both. If another company is responsible for part of the mailing, verify its contact route before writing. Keep the worksheet so the next offer can be matched to the specific record and reply.
