How to Stop REI Printed Mail and Flyers
REI directs printed-mail requests through its contact form. Ask for no promotional flyers without cancelling your membership or confusing a required rewards notice with another advertisement.
Use the printed-mail instructions, not email signup
The official Mail Preferences article links to the REI contact form. Although the article says to email REI, that link opens a support form, not a published opt-out email address.
REI instructs you to choose My Account under What can we help you with?, then Other under Additional details, and Next. In Describe the issue, ask to leave the printed mailing list and include the name and address exactly as printed. Follow the form's current required fields and any verification it presents.
Have the flyer beside you when writing. Include the unit number and ZIP code rather than only the email used for online orders. If two copies have different recipient names, identify both labels and clarify which person has asked to stop mail.
Please stop REI promotional printed mail and flyers for [name as printed] at [full mailing address, including unit and ZIP code].
This is a printed-mail preference, not membership cancellation. Please confirm the change and explain any mail already prepared or required rewards notice that may still arrive.
A rewards notice can still arrive
REI says lists are prepared months ahead, so some mail may arrive after the request. It also says an earned rewards notice must still be sent by mail. That exception matters when judging whether the promotional preference worked.
Read the next piece before repeating the request. A notice explaining a reward you earned is different from a flyer advertising a sale. Do not discard a useful account notice just because it carries the same logo.
The article offers REI Emails separately for sales and events. Decide whether you want those messages, but do not sign up simply to finish a postal request. An email unsubscribe likewise does not identify the printed household record.
Keep a support record you can follow up on
Save your submitted wording, the date and the reply or case reference. A screen saying the message was received establishes receipt, not the day a print campaign stops. Ask support about the allowance for flyers already in production if its response does not explain it.
If promotional paper continues beyond that allowance, use the earlier support record and provide the new label. Ask whether a second mailing record uses an old address, a different spelling or another household member's name.
Check the sender on credit-card promotions too. An offer from the card issuer needs that issuer's own preference process; the REI printed-mail instruction does not establish that a separate financial company changed its list. Request only marketing changes you intend, not account closure or removal of notices you need.
Keep the flyer details together
A photo preserves the sender and printed label. REI describes its own support-form process; complete that request with REI yourself. A saved photo is not proof that REI has changed your preference.
