Experian Direct-Mail Opt-Out Explained

Experian's direct-mail preference covers mail using its U.S. marketing data. It is not the same request as opting out of prescreened credit offers, and it does not cover every advertising list.

Use the direct-mail marketing contact

The official direct-mail preferences page publishes optout@experian.com and 1-833-210-4615. Its written address is Experian, PO Box 703, Allen, TX 75013.

Experian asks for your complete name and mailing address, relevant name variations, additional email addresses and telephone numbers. Specify mailing lists if paper advertising is the change you want; telemarketing and online advertising are other choices.

Please mark [name as printed] at [full mailing address, including unit and ZIP code] as Do Not Mail on Experian's U.S. marketing lists.

Relevant name variations and contact details are [my applicable details]. This is a direct-mail marketing preference request. Please confirm the record matched and the preference term.

Replace the brackets privately before using the official contact. For a former surname, explain which spelling belongs to you. Do not include a neighbor's information or guess an email address to fill a blank.

The preference lasts five years

Experian describes a five-year Do Not Mail term. Its coverage is limited to mailings using Experian marketing data. It says a move or name change requires another opt-out with the new details.

Keep the request and any confirmation with the name and address you used. A calendar reminder near the end of the term is more useful than assuming the record will stay suppressed indefinitely. Update your own notes when you move.

Do not infer the source of an advertisement just because it arrived at your address. A retailer can use its customer list or another provider. A later offer is a reason to check its sender and label, not proof that Experian ignored the request.

Credit prescreening is a separate job

For prescreened credit and insurance offers, use the official prescreen process explained in our credit-offer guide. A marketing-list request is not a credit freeze, a credit-report dispute or an account closure.

You can record both requests without treating them as interchangeable. Keep their confirmations separate so you know which preference was accepted. Do not upload a Social Security number, credit report or identity document to Junk Mail Magic for a marketing-data request.

If one named advertiser keeps mailing you, make a direct request to that advertiser as well. Include its actual paper label. Broader list suppression and a sender's own customer preference answer different questions, so neither should be described as a universal paper-mail block.

One advertiser still mailing you?

A clear mailer photo helps us identify that sender and prepare a direct request. Complete Experian's broader marketing-data preference yourself through its official contact.
