Set aside tax documents before mail cleanup
W-2s, 1099s, and other tax documents sometimes come in plain or business-style envelopes with nothing on the outside to mark them. Sorting the pile first keeps them out of a batch meant for removal requests.
How to sort the pile before you start
- Set aside envelopes from organizations connected to your accounts, employment or tax records before sorting the advertising.
- Open uncertain envelopes only when they are addressed to you or you are authorized to handle them.
- File confirmed tax documents privately and pass questions about them to the issuer or your tax preparer.
- Return to the ordinary advertising afterward. Photograph one wanted removal candidate at a time with its sender and full recipient label.
Why this belongs outside a removal request
Junk Mail Magic is for ordinary unwanted advertising. Tax forms, bills, financial instruments, and other people's mail should stay out of your photos. Only handle mail you are authorized to handle. If you are not sure a form is genuine, look up the issuer's phone number or website yourself and ask. For questions about timing or obligations, talk to a qualified tax professional.
File what you set aside
Store the tax documents somewhere you will find them at filing time. If you cannot confirm that a form is legitimate, contact the issuer before discarding it or following any instructions printed on it. Questions about what the service accepts can go to Junk Mail Magic support.
Instructions for the next step
Have an unwanted advertisement ready?
Photograph one piece you are authorized to handle, with the sender and full mailing label visible. Review the details before submitting. The first request is free; the sender controls the response.
