Review a sexually oriented advertising listing after a move
File a new PS Form 1500 when you move if you want the USPS sexually oriented advertising listing at the new address. Ordinary forwarding does not update the listing. The listing also needs a new application after five years if you want it to continue. These are the rules for the listing under section 10.2 of the Domestic Mail Manual.
Work out what you need to file
- Write down the address you listed and the registration date. If you don't know the date, mark it unknown and ask the Post Office instead of estimating.
- Note the reason for the new application: a move, the end of the five-year listing period, or both. If you cannot establish when your current listing began, ask USPS what to check.
- Get the current PS Form 1500 from USPS. The form offers two options: a prohibitory order against one mailer and a listing against unsolicited sexually oriented advertising. Make sure you fill in the listing option.
- Submit the form the way the current USPS instructions describe. The listing application does not require a mailpiece, so you don't need to attach an advertisement or envelope.
- Keep a copy and record the date you sent it. After processing, USPS sends an effective date and instructions for reporting mail.
A prohibitory order follows a different rule
An existing mailer-specific prohibitory order uses a different procedure. Section 9.1.8 describes notifying the mailer of a permanent address change by Certified Mail with return receipt requested. That does not replace the new Form 1500 for the separate listing. If you have both protections, keep the two records apart.
Use the effective date USPS sends after processing. The date you submit a form is useful for your records, but it is not a substitute for that confirmation.
Private listing review sheet
Example for your own use. Replace the bracketed details and review what you share.
Before you contact the Post Office
Keep the new application date beside the previously listed address in your private records. When USPS confirms the listing, add its effective date and retain the reporting instructions with it.

Choose the route that matches the mailing
Use the official route described in this guide for this kind of mail. For a separate ordinary advertisement, Junk Mail Magic can help prepare a sender-specific removal request.
